The WIAA state boy's hockey playoffs begin on February 14, with the opening round featuring home dates forMadison Memorial, Oregon, and Waunakee. Then, games begin in ernest on February 16 and 17 in sectional quarterfinal action, leading up to the sectional final on February 24 and 25 with a trip to state on the line.
Sectional 6 contains all of our area teams. Tuesday, February 14th has three area games: #10 McFarland at #7 Madison Memrial, #9 Monona Grove at #8 Waunakee (5:30pm), and #11 La Follette/East at #6 Oregon (7pm). In the sectional quarterfinals, #1 Verona will host Monona Grove or Waunakee on Thursday, February 16th. #4 Edgewood hosts #5 Madison West at La Bahn Arena (7pm). #2 Sun Prairie will face the winner of Memorial and McFarland at 7pm on the 16th as well. On Friday, February 17th, #3 Middleton will get the Oregon/La Follete-East winner at 8pm.
The Sectional 6 final is at the Capitol Ice Arena on Friday, February 24th, at 8pm. The Sectional semifinals are played at the higher seeded team's home site on February 21.
Stoughton and Monroe are in Sectional 7, both playing road games on February 14th.

In girl's hockey, with only 31 teams in the state, the playoffs move along a little more quickly. The opening round is on February 16 and 17, with sectional semifinals on February 21 and the sectional finals on February 24 and 25. The state championships are in Madison on March 3 and 4.
In the Madison area (Sectional 3), the Sun Prairie co-op earned the top seed, with an opening round game against #8 Stoughton co-op. #2 Middleton co-op faces the #7 Baraboo co-op.
