I started broadcasting while I was still in high school at Flambeau, asking a million dumb questions of the radio station covering our games my senior year. That got me interested in a field that I was more or less headed towards all along; I used to do play-by-play of our neighborhood backyard games, or do my own narrations of the sports video games we'd all play as kids.
My first radio job was in Eau Claire for WBIZ, where I covered high school and college sports for a few years before moving to Madison and attending UW-Whitewater. While I was in southern Wisconsin for those two years, I ran behind-the-scenes stuff for the Badgers Radio Network and also covered UW-Whitewater for the school paper. I moved back to Eau Claire in 2008, where I became the program director of two talk stations and called games year-round across the radio group. Eventually, I became sports director and had my own TV and radio shows.
I left for the second time to return to Madison to continue covering high school sports, and also to be closer to my family that lives west of the city. My day job is the digital director for iHeartMedia in Milwaukee and Madison, but at night, you'll find me at a game pretty much any time of the year. In addition to doing play-by-play for iHeartMedia, I also call games for several other radio stations and college sports networks in the upper Midwest.
Currently, I live in southern Wisconsin. At home, it's my wife Joanne, my sons Jonathan and Jameson, and our pup Ginger. I'm also the worst athlete in the history of the state of Wisconsin, and the state's largest consumer of chocolate milk.
