Badgers Run Past Terrapins In 23-10 Victory

It was a wet and windy day at Camp Randall, wreaking havoc on any ball in the air, but Wisconsin ran their way past the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday with a 23-10 victory. Paired with the win against Purdue two weeks ago, Wisconsin has their first set of back-to-back wins this season.

It was a slow start for both teams offensively, but Wisconsin was able to get going late in the first quarter, completing a 12 play, 77 yard drive with a 9 yard touchdown run from Braelon Allen. A few drives later, after a Maryland punt, Wisconsin started at their own 11 yard line and Isaac Guerendo took the first down carry 89 yards to the house, narrowly staying in bounds.

Wisconsin would end the first half with a field goal from Nate Van Zelst and take a 17-0 lead into halftime. Maryland kicked a field goal on their first drive of the second half, but couldn't get much going outside of that. The Badgers would answer with a field goal of their own toward the end of the third quarter to maintain their 17 point lead.

The Badgers would go on to add another field goal later and Maryland added a touchdown with less than a minute to go in the game to bring the final score to a 23-10 Badgers victory.

It was a tough day for both quarterbacks as Graham Mertz completed just 5 passes on 18 attempts for 77 yards while Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa was just 10 for 23 passing, also for 77 yards, with a touchdown and an interception.

The Badgers backfield duo had a great day at the office though with Braelon Allen rushing the ball 23 times for 119 yards and a touchdown and Isaac Guerendo following that up with 14 rushes for 114 yards and a touchdown. In total, the Badgers gained 278 yards on the ground while Maryland had just 189 total yards of offense combined.

It was another solid looking win for Wisconsin, and they'll look to make it three wins in a row next week against Iowa on the road.
