Badgers to face Tar Heels in first round

The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team will be the state’s lone entrant in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Playing as the No. 9 seed in the South Region, they will play No. 8 seed North Carolina on Friday. The selection committee has yet to determine where and the time of Friday’s game, but with the entire tournament being played in the state of Indiana with most games in Indianapolis, it is not as immediately critical for travel plans as in years past.

This was an up-and-down season for Wisconsin (17-12, 1010 Big Ten), but they did not end the campaign well, losing six of their last eight games, all to ranked opponents. North Carolina (18-10, 10-6 ACC) was far more consistent, never having had a winning streak of more than three or a losing streak of more than two.

Since 1999, the Badgers have only missed the NCAA Tournament once (excluding last year when there was no tournament held).
