Through the first two days of the NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected four players. Two were on defense in Round 1 with Georgia's Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt and then two were on defense with North Dakota State WR Christian Watson and UCLA OL Sean Rhyan.
On Day Three, the Packers ended up with seven selections to fill out the rest of the roster.
Round 4
With Green Bay's first selection in the fourth round, Brian Gutekunst doubled down on wide receiver, selecting Nevada WR Romeo Doubs. Doubs stands at 6'2" and 200 pounds and is coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons for Nevada. He caught 58 passes for 1,002 yards his junior year and 80 receptions for 1,109 yards and 11 touchdowns his senior year in 2021.
Doubs also returned punts and should be valuable on special teams even if he doesn't get into the offense a lot as a rookie pass catcher.
A few picks later, the Packers selected Zach Tom, an offensive lineman from Wake Forest. Tom has experience at left tackle and also center but projects as an interior lineman in the NFL. He could use some improvement with his hand technique but coaching should be able to fix that pretty easily. Tom is a smart player and an excellent pass blocker that fits the Packers mold perfectly.
Round 5
In the 5th round the Packers traded back a few spots with the Broncos to the final selection in the round, gaining an extra 7th round pick in the process. With that pick, Green Bay took South Carolina EDGE Kingsley Enagbare.
Enagbare is 6'4" and 258 pounds with a 4.87 40 yard dash and 36.5" vertical jump. He's strong and is a good pass rusher but isn't super explosive. He'll likely join the rotation of edge rushers the Packers have behind Rashan Gary and Preston Smith and the Packers can develop him from there. He's also likely to see some time on special teams.
Round 7
With no selections in the sixth round, we jump right to the 7th where the Packers had four selections (228, 234, 249, and 258 overall) and used them to add some more depth and beef up the special teams with more contributors.
With the 228th pick, the Packers took Tariq Carpenter, a LB/S out of Georgia Tech. He's a bit of a hybrid but can play both safety and linebacker at 6'4" and 225 pounds. Carpenter tests well and is explosive as an athlete and is going to see a lot of snaps on special teams.
With the 234th pick, the one they received from the Broncos in the 5th round trade, Green Bay selected Miami DT Jonathan Ford. Ford is a big guy at 6'5" and 341 pounds and is raw as a nose tackle prospect. He's a three year starter at Miami but only has 3 career sacks to his name. He's a great run blocker but has limited upside rushing the passer. Ford also played on special teams for Miami.
With the 249th pick, Green Bay selected Penn State OL Rasheed Walker. Walker has a highly touted recruit that just didn't make the strides teams thought he would make in college, but he still has plenty of talent and potential. He's the third offensive lineman Green Bay selected in this draft, which the Packers have now done each of the last three years. You can never have enough O-Line depth and Walker with the right coaching could become a good one.
With the 258th pick, the Packers selected Nebraska WR Samori Toure, the third wide receiver Green Bay picked in this draft as well. Standing at 6'1" and 191 pounds, Toure has good hands, is a solid blocker, and is likely going to play mostly out of the slot in the NFL. Toure produced well at Montana for three years before transferring to Nebraska and caught 46 passes for 898 yards and five TDs.
All told, the Packers completed their 2022 NFL Draft with 11 selections. Three were wide receivers, three were offensive linemen, plus three linebackers and two defensive tackles.
