Absences Open, Offense Closes Day 1 of Packers Camp

As the 2022 Green Bay Packers open camp, David Bakhtiari continues his rehab from a devastating knee injury on Dec 31st, 2020. With the Packers star left tackle still sidelined, an offense filled with unknown playmakers outshined the defense on day one.

Aaron Rodgers said he expected his offense to struggle especially early in camp against Joe Barry's unit. "I told those chumps, '1-0 offense.'" Rodgers hooked up with fourth-round rookie Romeo Dobbs on a few occasions, who lined up with the first offense due in part to the absences of Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins. Brian Gutekunst said both Watson and Watkins would be returning to practice relatively soon before practice Wednesday.

Billy Schmid recaps what he saw on the sidelines of Ray Nitschke Field on Wednesday as the Green Bay Packers opened their 2022 season.
