HSFB: Whitnall spoils Greenfield's Homecoming with 26-7 win

The state’s leading rusher, Nate Valcarcel, showed why he holds that title, scoring three touchdowns, including throwing a touchdown. Despite missing a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter, Whitnall was able to get on the board in the first frame with a touchdown, but failed on the extra point attempt.

The second quarter, which had been dominant for Whitnall through the first four games outscoring opponents 74-26, proved to once again be the difference maker as the Falcons added 14 more points, going into halftime 20-0.

On the opening drive of the third quarter, Greenfield marched down the field but fumbled inside the five-yard line. Whitnall eventually had to punt, and on the following possession, Greenfield scored a touchdown making it a two-possession game.

Whitnall, however, dashed any hopes of a comeback with a touchdown drive of their own, and went on to improve to 4-0 in the Woodland East Conference Standings. With Milwaukee Lutheran and South Milwaukee each winning their respective games, Greenfield drops to fourth place in the conference.

Notes

All conference Quarterback Omarion Bartlett started for Greenfield after dealing with a hyper thyroid condition early in the season that saw him miss the first three games and was used sparingly in week four.Against Whitnall, he played the entire first quarter and part of the second quarter, and saw action in the second half.Wide receiver Chris Lopez, once again, took over the QB duties when Bartlett was out.

Next up for Whitnall is a home contest versus Wisconsin Lutheran.Greenfield travels to Shorewood/Messmer.

The next High School Football Game of the Week on The Big 920 is Marquette at Brookfield Central.
