WSN FB Coaches Poll Week 3: State's top teams reside in Milwaukee area

For the third straight week, the Milwaukee area is well-represented in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll. Five of the state's eight divisions, including the largest five, have a southeastern Wisconsin school in the top spot.

Division 1 continues to be led by Muskego, the defending state champions and winners of 31 games in a row. Franklin checks in at #2, followed by Marquette at #3. Arrowhead, fresh off of a win over #6 Mukwonago, is at #4, while Kenosha Bradford and Oak Creek round out the poll at #9 and #10.

Menomonee Falls is a clear #1 in D2, after a dominating victory over D4's top squad Catholic Memorial. Brookfield Central moves up to #2, after suffering one-score losses to Menomonee Falls and Catholic Memorial to open the season; the Lancers scored a 14-0 shutout of the defending D2 state champs, intra-city rival #4 Brookfield East, last Friday in 97.3 The Game's IRONJOC Game of the Week. Burlington is at #3, while Waukesha West slides in at #5 ahead of their showdown Friday with D1 #6 Mukwonago in 97.3 The Game's IRONJOC Game of the Week. Hartford is ranked #6 this week, followed by Wauwatosa West at #8, Waterford at #9, and Cedarburg at #10.

Whitefish Bay holds down the top spot in D3, ahead of #2 Grafton. Pewaukee is also ranked #10. Division 4's top team continues to be Catholic Memorial, despite a loss to D2 #1 Menomonee Falls on Friday. After a wild win last week, Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler Christian is ranked #5 in D4. Defending D5 state champion Lake Country Lutheran is ranked #1 again in D5, while Racine Lutheran checks in at #8 in D6. No area ranked teams are in D7, and the closest 8-player football squad ranked to the area is Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, at #9.
