Thongchai Jaidee Wins AmFam Championship in Madison

History was made at University Ridge in Madison on Sunday as Thongchai Jaidee became the first player from Thailand to win on the PGA Champions Tour. He won the AmFam Championship by just one stroke.

Jaidee was tied for the lead to start the day and withstood a big push from Tom Pernice Jr. (who shot a 6 under 66 on Sunday) to win the tournament. Jaidee shot a 4 under 68 to finish the tournament at 14 under par.

Tom Pernice Jr. did take second place and finished 13 under par. Wisconsin’s own Jerry Kelly shot a 5 under 67 on Sunday, finished just 2 shots back, and tied for third place. He said after his round that he thought he needed to shoot 8 under par to have a chance at winning and that turned out to be the case.

Steve Stricker carded a 5 under 67 on Sunday and finished tied for 11th at 9 under for the tournament. Skip Kendall shot a 1 under 71 in the final round and he finished 4 under for the tournament.
