Back in 1997, I was given the opportunity to be the "man in the stands" during Brewers TV telecasts. The Brewers were a bad team, no one was watching the games and Matty V and Bill Schroeder needed something to talk about other than the play on the field. Of course I took the gig.
It lasted exactly 4 games.
I was all over the County Stadium. I ran the Sausage Race mic'd up. I talked to celebrities. I even even interviewed Bernie Brewer from the deck of his chalet. I thought this was TV gold. The Brewers thought otherwise. After looking at the tape (and my flat top haircut), I can see why they arrived at their conclusion. But you can judge for yourself as you watch this footage from one of the most uncomfortable situations I have even been in my 25 year media career.
