Bucks defense wilts in the Alamo City

Monday night, the Milwaukee Bucks began their final week of the regular season with a thud.

Playing listless defense from the opening tip on, the San Antonio Spurs scored 45 points int eh first quarter and another 42 in the second, in outpacing the Bucks, 146-125. The 87 points surrendered in the first half were the most points ever given up at the intermission in franchise history.

The previous high was in 1968 when the Baltimore Bullets scored 86 first half points in the franchise’s 38th ever game.

"They made a lot of shots; they made threes,” Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo told reporters via Zoom after the game. “They made midrange. Pick-and-roll coverage was terrible. They got a lot of layups out of pick and roll. That's pretty much it."

Remarkably, no one player stood out for San Antonio (33-35), but they did have four players score 20 or more points. Milwaukee (43-25) was led by Antetokounmpo’s 28 points on 11-16 shooting.

Milwaukee next plays Orlando at home on Tuesday.
