Brewers routed in series opener

It was a game that began ugly for the Brewers and never got any better.

Jack Marisnick, Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, and Willson Contreras all homered for the Cubs, who jumped out to a 10-0 lead after two innings and cruised to a 15-2 win in the series opener between the two NL Central foes.

Milwaukee starter Brett Anderson left with right knee discomfort after throwing just 11 pitches. He was charged with three earned runs and the loss after Josh Lindblom struggled to contain the Chicago onslaught of offense.

Kolten Wong, fresh off the injured list hit a solo home run, as did Billy McKinney, but it wasn’t nearly enough.

The Brewers and Cubs will resume their series Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field starting at 1:20 p.m.
