Julio Teheran has been exactly what the Milwaukee Brewers needed since they signed him last week. Teheran threw six innings and allowed just one run in the Brewers 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.
Teheran has thrown 11 innings for the Brewers and allowed just one earned run on eight hits. Very impressive from a pitcher who hadn't pitched in the big leagues since April of 2021 before last week.
The Brewers offense gave him a lead in the second inning when Abraham Toro hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat for Milwaukee. The Blue Jays scored a run in the fifth inning to cut the Brewers lead to 2-1.
However, Milwaukee tacked on insurance runs in the seventh inning. Owen Miller hit a two-run double to give the Brewers a 4-1 lead.
Toronto answered with a run against Joel Payamps in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Brewers held a 4-2 lead.
Peter Strzelecki threw a perfect eighth inning for Milwaukee.
Devin Williams allowed a leadoff double in the ninth inning, but retired the next three batters to earn his ninth save. The Brewers won 4-2.
Milwaukee is 29-26 and stays atop the National League Central.
The rubber match of the series will be on Thursday afternoon at 12:07pm in Toronto.
