Astros Clobber Brewers 12-2 Behind Five Home Runs

For the second consecutive Monday, the Milwaukee Brewers lost by double digits. This time, it was a 12-2 loss to the Houston Astros at home.

After a scoreless 22-pitch first inning, Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes ran into trouble. He gave up two solo home runs in the top of the second inning and Houston took a 2-0 lead. Milwaukee answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run from Rowdy Tellez. It was his 12th of the season.

Houston added two more runs, one in the fourth inning and one in the fifth inning. It was the first time Burnes had allowed four home runs in an outing in his career. He exited after five innings and Milwaukee trailed 5-1.

In the top of the sixth inning, Elvis Peguero entered the game and things unraveled. Peguero gave up four runs and Hoby Milner allowed one run, all part of a five run inning for Houston. They led 10-1 after six innings.

Both teams scored again later and the Astros took the 12-2 win.

The Brewers have lost five of their last seven games. They are 25-22. The second game of the series against the Houston Astros will take place at 6:40pm on Tuesday night. Listen to Tim Allen on The Baseball Postgame Show after the game on 97.3 The Game and the iHeart Radio App.
