Brewers Sweep Rays With 4-3 Walk-Off Win In 10 Innings

The Brewers had lost six of their last seven games until Tuesday night. Now, they have won back-to-back games for the first time in over 10 days after a 4-3 win over the Rays on Wednesday afternoon.

This completed the season sweep of the Rays. The Brewers are 13-4 against AL teams this season.

The Brewers started the scoring right away in the first inning. Mike Brosseau and Keston Huira hit RBI singles in the first inning to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, David Peralta hit a single that scored Francisco Mejia to cut the Brewers lead to 2-1.

In the fifth inning, Yu Chang hit his third home run of the season to tie the game. It was the first home run Brandon Woodruff had allowed since returning from the injured list.

Woodruff allowed another home run in the seventh inning when Randy Arozarena hit his 13th of the season. That gave the Rays a 3-2 lead.

Woodruff pitched seven innings, allowed three runs, and struck out five batters.

The Rays had a one run lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. Rowdy Tellez stepped into the box. Tellez hit a solo home run to center field to tie the game.

In the top of the 10th inning, the Rays didn’t score. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Willy Adames hit an RBI single to left field that scored Tyrone Taylor. That gave the Brewers the 4-3 walk-off victory.

The Brewers are off on Thursday before starting a three-game series in St. Louis against the Cardinals on Friday night at 7:15pm.
