The legends were back on Saturday night. Prince Fielder was inducted into the Walk of Fame. Plus, Ryan Braun and Jonathan Lucroy were inducted into the Brewers Wall of Honor. However, the team fell short on the field in their 7-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
The Cincinnati Reds scored first in the second inning when Albert Almora Jr. doubled to left field. That gave the Reds a 1-0 lead. Almora Jr. scored when Jonathan India doubled to right field to give the Reds a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Jose Barrero hit his first major league home run. It was a two-run home run that extended the Reds lead to 4-0.
The Brewers answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning. Andrew McCutchen hit his 11th home run of the season to get the Brewers on the board. A few batters later, Keston Huira hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 4-3. It was the 9th home run of the season for Huira.
Jose Barrero’s great night continued in the sixth inning when he hit his second home run of the night. This home run was against Hoby Milner who relieved Aaron Ashby. The Reds led 5-3 in the middle of the sixth inning.
Aaron Ashby pitched into the fifth inning, gave up four earned runs, walked five batters, and struck out five batters.
In the top of the seventh inning, Joey Votto hit his 11th home run of the season to extend the Cincinnati lead to 6-3.
Donovan Solano added a solo home run in the 9th inning off of Brent Suter to give the Reds a 7-3 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Brewers scored two runs, but it wasn’t enough. The Reds won 7-5.
The Brewers have lost five of their last six games. The rubber match of the series against the Reds will be played at 1:10pm on Sunday afternoon at AmFam Field.
