Corbin Burnes Dominates Cards in 2-0 Brewers Win

What happens when two of the best pitchers in the NL square off? Scoring is hard to come by. That was the case on Monday night as the Brewers beat the Cardinals in a low scoring affair, 2-0 at AmFam Field.

Corbin Burnes looked like the reigning Cy Young Award Winner that he is through his seven innings of work. He struck out ten Cardinals batters and didn’t allow a run. It was his fifth game this season with at least 10 strikeouts, including last time out against St. Louis on May 29th in which he struck out eleven Cardinals.

The offense for the Brewers came in the 5th inning when Tyrone Taylor hit a two-run home run with Keston Huira on base. The Brewers held that 2-0 lead through the end of the game.

Miles Mikolas (the starter for St. Louis on Monday) had a nice outing himself. He pitched into the seventh inning for the Cardinals and allowed just two runs on four hits.

The Brewers bullpen again was lights out. They extended their streak of innings without giving up an earned run to 28.1.

The Brewers will go for their fifth win in a row on Tuesday night against the Cardinals at 7:10pm at AmFam Field.
