Brewers split Wednesday doubleheader with Cardinals

Brandon Woodruff pitched a complete game, Ryan Braun hit career home run number 350, and the Milwaukee Brewers took one of two games Wednesday from the St. Louis Cardinals, losing 4-2 in the first game and winning 6-0 in the second game.

Woodruff's complete game came in the 4-2 loss, in which he scattered four runs and seven hits over seven innings. Milwaukee could only put up four hits of their own in the contest, with both runs coming on a first-inning two-run blast by Keston Hiura.

Braun's milestone home run came in the second game of the double-dip, in which the Brewers won 6-0. His three-run home run gave the Brewers a big start to the second game, while four pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts on the other end.

Milwaukee has Thursday off before playing the Royals at home over the weekend, their final games at home this season. The Brewers wrap up the season with three games against the Reds and another five-game series against the Cardinals.

With just 11 games to go, Milwaukee is one game out of a playoff spot.
