Braun, Hiura deliver in extras as Brewers defeat Cardinals 2-1 Monday

Ryan Braun and Keston Hiura delivered for the home team in the afternoon game of a doubleheader on Monday.

In the first game of their doubleheader Monday, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in eight innings, 2-1.

Braun hit a double to bring home the tying run, and Hiura's sacrifice fly pushed across the winning run in walk-off fashion.

For the Brewers, the runs snapped a scoreless streak dating back to Saturday against the Cubs, when Ryan Braun hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Milwaukee had just one run on Friday as well, again off the bat of Braun.

Milwaukee managed just four hits in the contest.

Brewers pitchers combined to allow five hits while striking out 11 in eight innings.

Game 2 of the doubleheader is Monday night at Miller Park.
