Florida to wear helmet decal to honor Mr. Two Bits

George Edmondson, known to the Gators’ community as “Mr. Two Bits,” died at the age of 96 over the summer.

Florida is going to honor him during Saturday’s home opener against UT Martin at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.

Thursday, The Gators revealed a helmet decal it will wear this weekend to honor “Mr. Two Bits.” The decal features the orange-and-blue striped tie that he was known for wearing at Gators games. There’s also now a mural to commemorate him inside of the stadium:

“Mr. Two Bits” was known for leading a cheer at football games from 1949-2008. Since 2013, Florida has welcomed in honorary “Mr. Two Bits” participants, who are often former players or alumni of the school, to keep the tradition going.
