Virginia Head Coach Bennett Named AP Coach Of The Year

North Carolina vs. Virginia

The Virginia Cavaliers had a remarkable season this year, and head coach Tony Bennett has been rewarded for it, as he has been named the AP Coach of the Year. The Cavaliers set a program record for wins in a single season, and reached number one in the AP top 25 for the first time since 1982. Their season ended prematurely, and historically, despite the success, falling to 16 seed UMBC 74-54.

Bennett secured 50 of 65 votes for Coach of the Year, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes ranked second with five votes and Ohio State's Chris Holtmann placed third with four votes.
