Florida State's 1st Heisman Trophy winner is returning home. Charlie Ward who played football and basketball for the Seminoles from 1989 through 1993 is returning to the school as an ambassador.
Ward has left his mark in program history as the quarterback who led Florida State to its first football national championship in 1993.
"It is as an ambassador for the university and the job description is being done now," Ward said. "Will have those details later in the month. ... I have had some very preliminary discussions with FSU officials about how I might help the university in some official capacity."
Ward also led the FSU basketball team to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight in 1993 and a Sweet 16 in 1992.
