The ACC has confirmed that the ACC Football Championship will return to North Carolina. This comes after the ACC removed the championship from the state last year in response to the HB2 bill. The HB2 bill has since been shelved until 2022, prompting NCAA and ACC events to begin returning to Charlotte. The new deal the ACC has stuck with North Carolina will place the ACC Championship there until 2020, compensating for the one year hiatus from the state.
“We are pleased that ACC neutral site championships will return to the state of North Carolina beginning with the 2017-18 academic year. We value all of our partners in North Carolina and appreciate their support and cooperation. We are thrilled to renew our relationships with so many terrific people, outstanding cities and first-class venues.” - ACC Commissioner John Swofford
