JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded fourth-year DE Chris Smith to the Cincinnati Bengals for an undisclosed 2018 draft pick, the club announced today.
Smith, a fifth-round draft selection (159th overall) by the Jaguars in 2014, has appeared in 19 games and has totaled 19 career tackles and 4.5 sacks. Smith appeared in six games in 2016 and was inactive for 10 games, and totaled four tackles and one sack. As a rookie in 2014, Smith posted career-highs in games played (seven) and sacks (3.0).
Smith attended Arkansas from 2010-13 and was a four-year letterman for the Razorbacks. During his collegiate career, Smith appeared in 43 games with 27 starts and posted career totals of 122 tackles, 21.5 sacks, 30.5 tackles for loss and 20 QB pressures. A native of Mount Ulla, N.C., Smith was a member of back-to-back state championship teams at West Rowan High School.
