Brad Soderberg, Will Ryan among finalists for UW-Green Bay job

Former Wisconsin interim head coach Brad Soderberg, a Wausau native, and Will Ryan, former UW-Platteville and UW-Milwaukee player and the son of former Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan, are part of the group of finalists for the UW-Green Bay men's basketball coaching job.

Soderberg, an assistant at Virginia under Tony Bennett, the son of former Wisconsin coach Dick Bennett, who Soderberg played for at UW-Stevens Point and coached under at Wisconsin, is one of the four finalists. Soderberg has had numerous stops along the way in addition to his interim season at Wisconsin, most recently a head coach at Division II Lindenwood in Missouri.

Ryan, currently the head coach at Wheeling University in West Virginia, played for his father at Platteville and Milwaukee before embarking on his own coaching career. He began at Wisconsin as a coach for five years, with assistant coaching stops at North Dakota State and Ohio University before taking over at Wheeling.

The other finalists are Notre Dame assistant coach Rod Balanis and Bradley assistant coach Jimmie Foster.

UW-Green Bay and former head coach Linc Darner parted ways in April, to the surprise of many.
