After more than a year away, one driver found himself back among the elite in motorsports.
Wisconsin's Matt Kenseth earned a top-10 finish in Sunday's Real Heroes 400 at Darlington, his first race in the NASCAR Cup Series since November of 2018. Kevin Harvick won the race.
Kenseth, who started 12th in the #42 Chip Ganassi car, was out of racing last year, citing a lack of a full-time opportunity in NASCAR.
Harvick told reporters after the race he believes Kenseth should have found a way to stay in the sport in 2019.
"Here’s the thing about Matt Kenseth, he should have never quit," Harvick said. "Matt Kenseth was winning races when he retired. Matt Kenseth is going to be a huge part of that race team and making Chip Ganassi Racing better. He’s going to be great for the sponsors."
