Cowboys Have “Very Real Interest” In Urban Meyer

After the Cowboys 24-7 loss to the Bears Thursday Night Jason Garrett's decade long run in Dallas appears to be coming to an end.

Garrett’s seat – already hot – became a little hotter after the disastrous performance Thursday night. After the game, NFL Network insider Jane Slater revealed the Cowboys have their eyes on a few different coaching candidates – including Urban Meyer.

“Jerry Jones says Jason Garrett will remain the coach but I can confirm a very real interest in Urban Meyer. In fact, I’m told Stephen Jones spoke with him recently,” Slater reported on Thursday night.

Meyer, who resigned from Ohio State following the 2018 season, landed in the broadcast booth for FOX Sports.

The former Buckeyes coach already expressed interest in the cowboys job earlier this season. In an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Meyer was asked about Lincoln Riley leaving for the Cowboys. Meyer said that’s the one NFL job you leave college football for.

“I can’t speak for him. I hate to even speculate… That’s the one job in professional football you say, ‘I’ve got to go do that,'” Meyer said about the Cowboys job.
