Florida center Nick Buchanan was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List on Friday, as announced by the Boomer Esiason Foundation. The award is annually presented to the nation’s premier and most outstanding center in college football.
Buchanan, one of 80 Division I centers named to the list, marks the fifth Gator this week to be named to a national award watch list.
Buchanan played and started 12 games at center for the Gators, as the redshirt senior was an integral part of a Florida offensive line that allowed just 18 sacks over the course of the entire 2018 season. The 18 total sacks allowed ranked 20th in the country and was good for third among SEC teams. A native of Dunwoody, Ga., Buchanan was also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
