The annual Learfield Cup which ranks the nations college athletic programs in terms of overall success across all programs is typically favorable for the Gators. They've found themselves ranked in the top five for 11 straight years, as they have won at least one National Championship every school year this decade.
Stanford won six national titles this year and was ranked #1 overall. Football powerhouses like Clemson and Alabama did not receive as much love. Clemson ranked 53 and Alabama was 27; Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports wrote about Clemson "Football School. Everything else is background noise."
