UGA's Kirby Smart Rails Against Transfer Portal

UGA head coach Kirby Smart has never been a fan of the transfer portal, and went in depth with CBS' Dennis Dodd on why. Per Dodd:

“My biggest problem with the portal is that it gives kids an easy way out,” Smart said. “I know the devil’s advocate of players’ rights and they should be able to go wherever they want to go. But I’m telling you, no normal parent would say, ‘At the first sign of trouble, I want my son to run.'”

Smart most notably lost QB Justin Fields to the transfer portal and eventually to Ohio State. Smart stated that he had no regrets in recruiting Fields.
