Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell was asked point blank if he expects LB Telvin Smith to be a part of the team in 2019. His response was, "We'll see. I don't want to get into hypotheticals." Caldwell says he wants to have more talks with Telvin and his agent, he also stated he did not receive any potential trade offers from other teams regarding Telvin.
Heading into the 2019 Telvin has 3 years left on his contract where he will make between $9.75M and $10.25M each year before becoming and unrestricted free agent in 2022. The remarks by Caldwell come on the heels of controversy surrounding Smith and Jalen Ramsey not showing up for involuntary workouts and being called out by Executive VP of Football Operations Tom Coughlin.
