NFL Tells Jaguars EVP Coughlin To Pump The Brakes On Workout Talk

Coughlin

The NFL has responded to Jaguars executive vice president Tom Coughlin's comments regarding voluntary workouts made at last week's state of the franchise address, which was widely seen as a shot at Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey and LB Telvin Smith.

"We're very close to 100 percent attendance and, quite frankly, our players should be here building the concept of team, working hard side-by-side, constructing our bond of togetherness, formulating our collective priorities and goals." - Jaguars EVP Tom Coughlin

Per ESPN's Dan Graziano, the NFL sent a letter to Coughlin regarding his comments reinforcing that voluntary offseason workouts are not mandatory and that similar comments in the future could result in a fine and forfeiture of OTA practices. The NFL's response follows responses from the NFLPA, Jalen Ramsey, and David Mulugheta (Ramsey's agent).
