Notre Dame Will Have First Female Leprechaun

Michigan State Spartans v Notre Dame Fighting Irish

On Tuesday, the Notre Dame athletic program announced a historic new class of Leprechauns with three new additions.

Among them is Lynette Wukie, who has made history as the first woman to serve as the mascot.

Wukie is listed as a film/television/theatre major with minors in business economics and musical theatre. She has significant cheerleading experience dating back to her high school years, and has also performed on stage.

In addition to Wukie, the historic “class” of Leprechauns will include Samuel Jackson , making Wukie and Jackson the second and third-ever African-Americans to serve as mascot.
