Vols' HC Rick Barnes Explains Why He Stayed At UT

Tennessee Volunteers head basketball coach Rick Barnes spoke to reporters on Tuesday and was asked about discussions that took place with UCLA last week to become their head coach. Speaking candidly, Barnes said that negotiations with UCLA were hung up over the buyout of his contract, and that if the buyout had been worked out he'd be in LA.

Barnes is 88-50 in four years at Tennessee, making it to the Sweet 16 in the 2019 NCAA Tournament and winning the 2018 SEC regular season championship.
