ACC Coach Blasts His Own Team

University of Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall has the unenviable job of trying to bring to prominence the historically awful program that is the Virginia Cavaliers football program. It seems he isn't shy about letting people know about his program, either.

Mendenhall was on record with reporters stating:

"I believe that we have 27 ACC-caliber football players on our roster today."  - Bronco Mendenhall via Sam Blum of the Daily Progress

Virginia currently has 81 players on the roster, which means that he thinks only a third of the roster is ACC caliber. No wonder he said that he wants to play the worst Power 5 conference team available

Mendenhall is also in a bit of hot water for comments he made regarding NFL players.

"85 percent of the makeup of the NFL ... (comes from) single-parent homes. Those that make 2nd NFL contract, "78 percent ... are divorced, bankrupt, a substance abuser and disabled, all 4." - Mendenhall per Sam Blum of the Daily Progress

None of which is true, and a UVa spokesperson had "no idea" where Mendenhall got his stats were.

UVa will open the season against Richmond on September 1st.
