Vanderbilt has their eyes on UCFs Johnny Dawkins

Jeff Goodman, of Stadium, is reporting that Vanderbilt is making Dawkins a “top target” for its head coaching vacancy. The Commodores fired Bryce Drew last week after three seasons, including an 0-18 showing in SEC play this year.

Dawkins has been at UCF for three seasons. He’s led the program to a 67-34 overall record, an appearance in the NIT semifinals in 2017 and the Knights’ first NCAA Tournament victory this season

Prior to arriving in Orlando, Dawkins spent eight seasons as the head coach at Stanford. He won a pair of NIT titles and led the Cardinal to the Sweet 16 in 2014.

Dawkins also spent a decade as an assistant at Duke, his alma mater, from 1998-2008
